ETH Zurich offers social scholarships for Bachelor and Master studies as well as merit-based excellence scholarships for Master studies insofar the study is your first education and you do not have a degree on the same level.
The ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship is a prestigious award for outstanding Master’s students from both Switzerland and abroad, covering living and study costs with a CHF 12,000 grant per semester and a full tuition fee waiver. Applications for the 2025 scholarship open on November 1, 2025 and close on November 30, 2025. To be considered, applicants must apply for a Master’s program at ETH Zurich via Apply and submit their scholarship application and supporting documents, including a pre-proposal for their Master’s thesis.

Requirements
To qualify for an ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship for 2025, you must hold a Bachelor’s degree with excellent results (top 10%) by the summer of 2026, apply to an ETH Zurich Master’s program during the application window (November 1–30, 2025), and submit a pre-proposal for your Master’s thesis alongside your Master’s application. You also need to not hold a Master’s degree at the time of application and be reachable for a potential interview.
Eligibility & Academic Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree:
You must hold an excellent Bachelor’s degree, placing you in the top 10% of your graduating class.
- No Master’s Degree:
You must not already be enrolled in a Master’s degree program at ETH Zurich or possess a Master’s degree at the time of application.
- Degree Completion:
Your Bachelor’s degree must be completed or expected to be completed by July 31, 2026.
- Age:
You must have been born after December 31, 1990.
